"Protecting Our Churches by Protecting Our Children" – This
is a workshop that describes the need for a policy in our churches,
changes such a policy might bring to the old way of doing things,
and how to develop a policy that works for your church. Such
policies are important in child protection but also to protect
volunteers, employees, and churches. Presenter – Rev. Arthur Ritter
– First Congregational Church, Salt Lake City, Utah
“Youth Ministry That Works” – a Youth Panel – A practical
guide to starting a youth ministry from scratch in a small church.
Bring your questions, because a panel of experienced youth ministers
will be sharing their ideas and then fielding your questions. Led by
Rev. Robert Brink, Second Congregational Church, Beloit, WI – One
Presentation Only, Monday 8:30 am
“New Wineskins for Outreach” – Outreach Inc. – Your church
has a fresh vision and passion for outreach but can your same old
programs yield new results? Be inspired to build a new foundation
for outreach and see how you can put an innovative spin on some
venerable church programs. A fresh approach - fresh results.

“How to Market Your Church” – This workshop will explore the
benefits of setting up a successful church marketing program. Basic
keys to marketing programs that can be utilized by church leaders to
attract visitors and increase participation by current members are
included. Workshop Leader: Alan Seltzer, Chair of NACCC's
Communication Services Committee
“Women Who Paved Our Way” – Come learn about some of the
amazing women who played an important part in Congregational
history. Not for the timid! Presented by Sharon Binger, Becci Dawson
Cox, and Rev. Beth Faeth of People's Cong in Bayport, MN; and Rev.
Patti Dando Haaheim of SouthCross in Apple Valley, MN. They are ably
assisted by other Minnesota delegates.
“What is a Healthy Church” – Review ingredients of a healthy
church from a variety of studies and sources finding parallels that
will help your church identify characteristics to enhance your
ministry. Presented by Rev. J. Loring Carpenter, CFRE, Executive
Director of Seafarer’s Friend
“Lay Ministry” – In this post modern era, people are looking
at a variety of educational options. The Lay Ministry Training
Program can be an option for people who want to serve their
churches, but are not looking at a traditional seminary education
just yet. While not intended as a direct route to ordination, the
LMTP covers a range of topics, including Bible and theology studies,
educational ministry, ethics, and pastoral care, helping to prepare
people to serve or to move towards seminary. Presenter – Carol
Taylor – She is just completing this 3 year program offered by our
National Association.
“Pre-Marital Preparation” – This workshop will primarily
focus on pastors, marriage counselors and therapists, although
others interested in the concerns of marital preparation are
welcome. The workshop will present seven basic sessions a pastor may
cover in premarital interviews with couples, in addition to some
optional sessions for such special marriages as second marriages,
interfaith marriages, and blended/patchwork families. Resources will
also include music for weddings, sample wedding guides for churches
and pastors, and special helps for brides and grooms. Presenter –
Rev. Dr. Les Wicker a family and marriage specialist and a certified
clinical counselor.
“Improving Local Church Stewardship Programs” – A panel of 3
individuals from member churches will discuss what methods they used
to greatly improve local stewardship programs. Questions will be
answered and materials available for attendees..– One presentation
only – Monday 8:30 am
“A Heart for Missions” – A presentation by the Missionary
Society involving several churches on what an active missions
program has done to increase the vitality in their churches. A time
for people to share what works and what doesn’t work in missions. –
One presentation only
