COOK Native American Ministries
Tempe, Arizona

Cook Native American Ministries has been educating, enabling, and empowering Native Americans to pursue ministry and leadership positions on reservations and urban settings for nearly 100 years. Since many Native American churches are without educated, prepared pastoral leadership, Cook’s development of lay leadership programs is crucial to the survival of Christian witness and discipleship among Native American people.
Throughout its history, the School has always emphasized respect for the cultural values and spirituality of Native Americans. Students are free to share and apply their cultural values in the school environment. In light of indigenous experiences, students are nurtured in their development as Christian leaders so that they can express the Gospel in meaningful ways to the diverse cultures to which they may be called.
Cook’s legacy will continue into the future, but in a new, bold, and creative way. The decision to sell the Cook School property and use the assets to establish a Foundation is effective and accountable method for establishing in perpetuity a source of income that will empower the ministries of Cook.
They will continue to be a community of learning, but much more mobile, and their focus will always be Native people. The campus has closed, yet they celebrate “new beginnings!” The new direction of Cook School will bring engaging opportunities and new life and hope.
