MINISTERS' CONVOCATION

The Ministers' Convocation brochures will be coming soon to the ministers in our Association.  Please watch for them and register for this year's Convocation.  It is at the Center for Development in Ministry in Mundelein, Illinois, April 8-11.  The cost is $250 which includes room and board.  The Division for Ministry not only sponsors this event, but it also covers the costs for the speakers and all of the extra costs for the event.

THIS YEAR IN THE RESOURCE ROOM
We are currently scheduling representatives and workshops for the Resource Room at the Annual Meeting.  Additional information will be available in future issues of News from the NACCC.  In addition to general topics, we will highlight resources that will be helpful in worship, music, or spiritual enrichment.  If you know of companies that relate to these areas of interest, please contact Diane Williams at dianefae@msn.com or 608-274-5597 or Ruth in the NACCC office.

2002 SERMON CONTEST
This year the sermon contest is for the J.J. Russell Sermon Award.  The topic for the sermon must be on an aspect of Congregationalism that lifts up the Congregational Way.  The sermon should be preached from between March 16, 2001 through March 15, 2002.  The deadline for submission of the sermon for the contest is April 30, 2002.

ANNUAL MEETING PROMISES TO BE EVEN BETTER IN SPOKANE!
The time for the 48th Annual Meeting of the NACCC in Spokane, WA is fast approaching.  We took careful notes last year and have taken to heart many of the comments we received at the end of the Lansing meeting.

  • The Resource Room will be bigger and right next door tot he meeting room making it much more accessible.

  • There will be two seminars for the entire assembly with several opportunities for small group learning activities.

  • The Open Leadership Forum will offer the chance to dialog with representatives of all the boards, committees and divisions.

  • We will continue with last year's expanded opportunities for worship as we explore different types of worship.

  • The churches will have a chance to speak again during a time for small group discussion.

  • Child Care will expand one more notch this year by breaking our younger members into three groups and offering activities of interest to each group.

  • Again we are fortunate to have NAPF and HOPE nearby.  They will join us for dinner followed by a special Youth-Led worship outdoors and a wonderful fellowship time involving ice cream and an antique carousel.

  • Business will continue to be streamlined as much as possible.

  • Again we have outstanding speakers for our Keynote Address, the Congregational Lecture, and our Bible Lecture.

In addition we have tried to work in a bit more free time for you to explore the extraordinary setting for the meeting.  You can stroll (or jog) along the river, explore the park that was the site of the 1974 World's Fair, take in an IMAX movie, do a little shopping downtown or just put your feet up and relax.

We hope you will come to the meeting and go home with a sense of spiritual renewal having learned something useful for your church which you will share with your congregation.  And we want each congregation, through you, to feel like you are a vital part of the body of Christ that is the NACCC.  See you in Spokane!
