NEW WEBSITE NOW ONLINE -
www.nachurch.org

by Rev. Dr. Donald P. Olsen
Executive Secretary (Missions, New Development)

A new website has been established to improve communications with our member churches and to assist our divisions and commissions with their work.  The address is www.nachurch.org.  While the site's main pages are open to the public, certain areas and "worksites" within nachurch.org are password protected.  This provides our division and commission members with a safe work space for posting, editing, and approving documents online.

Everyone visiting the main site will be able to view announcements, a list of events (viewable in calendar format too), read and print Annual Meeting and Executive Committee minutes, and participate in online discussions.  Forms and applications from commissions and divisions will soon be available in online and downloadable formats.  Most importantly, visitors can "subscribe" to individual areas of the site so that when a change is made or information is added, subscribers will be informed via email - automatically.

Members of a divisions and commissions will be receiving a user name and password to access their worksite.  The worksites will enable members to post, edit, discuss, and insert comments in documents using only an internet browser.  Tasks may be assigned, given a completion date, and tracked _ online.  Members may be polled and the results automatically calculated so important issues can be acted upon in a timely manner.  Sub-sites may be established for specific uses.  Other features are also available to assist members in their work.  Finally, one of the greatest benefits of the worksite will be a cost savings due to reduced mailings.

Worksites and applicable areas of the main site will be maintained by office staff and the appropriate Administrative Assistant.  Most of the maintenance work can be done with skills the staff already possesses.  Most of our visitors and members can use these sites with their current skills.  But, like anything new, there will be a learning curve and we many have to change a habit or two.

Our new site is based on Microsoft's SharePoint Team Services Software.  An interactive demo is available at: http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/sharepoint/howto.htm .  Or you may go to www.nachurch.org  and click on the demo link under the first announcement.

CONGRATULATIONS TO…
Todd Richard, whose Christian rock band, Sacred Raisin Cakes, as of the second week in January has found their single "Waterpots", a favorite on the MP3.com site, at NUMBER 1 on the adult alternative charts! Also there are 4 other songs of theirs in the Top Ten Adult Alternative charts on MP3.com! For more contemporary Christian music go on-line _ mp3.com/sacred raisin cakes…and lots of other Christian music.

To FCC, Wauwatosa. An anonymous donor gave each of the fourteen confirmands of the Church $100 at the Confirmation Service last Spring, with the challenge of multiplying this in Christian service. The results were shared in an article in the Milwaukee Journal newspaper and then on local television stations this last month.
