2003 MINISTERS' CONVOCATION
Each year, the Division for
Ministry sponsors the Ministers' Convocation. The Convocation is a time
for ministers to renew and recharge their energy after the highly taxing
Lenten and Holy Week. The Convocation is always 8 days after Easter and
is generally held at the Center for Development in Ministry located
in Mundelein, Illinois. It runs Monday afternoon until Thursday
morning after breakfast. The Division for Ministry covers the costs of
the speakers and part of the registration fee for the event. The Division
for Ministry fund that supports the convocation is the Ministerial
Assistance/Enrichment Fund.
This year's Convocation is
concentrating on two themes: Understanding Islam and Grief Counseling.
Besides the sessions for the main presenters, there are worships,
communion, and free time to relax and fellowship with other NACCC
ministers. The dates are April 28-May 1, 2003. Brochures will be
coming soon to ministers in our association. Encourage your minister to join
others in Mundelein, Illinois for the Ministers' Convocation.
Your church will benefit.
YOUTH LEADER'S
RETREAT
The Youth Leader's Retreat is
being held this year at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia from February 28-March 2. The presenters will be The Rev. Ashley
Cook and Cindy Peterson. The theme is 'Tis a Gift to be
Simple. Quoting from the brochure: "Youth
Leaders Retreat 2003 returns to its roots. We will gather at Piedmont College,
the site of the first YLR. Focusing on the essentials of youth work,
the theme will be in keeping with the Shaker hymn,
'tis a gift to be simple.

HAVE YOU SEEN THE BIG BLUE BOOK?
(Probably not.)
The Financial Services Committee has developed a considerable program
with a resource manual to help the local churches (and the NA).
How do we do this? The BIG BLUE BOOK is a library of helpful ideas.
Let us list some of the ways:
-
Establishment of Endowment Funds
-
Techniques for Stewardship Campaigns
-
Charitable Gifting to the Church and/or the NA
-
Construction Financing
-
Investment of Church Funds
-
Estate Planning and Wills Seminars
-
Risk Management of Property and Liability Exposure
Every member of the FSC, every Financial Services advisor,
our Executive Secretary and our Controller all have a copy of this BIG BLUE
BOOK and are standing by to help you find solutions to your own special
concerns. We are all listed in the Directory - give us a call to help move
your church and the NA forward. Harold Frentz, Financial
Services Committee
