MISSIONS AND MISSIONARIES

by Ruth Mahnke, NACCC Office

UPDATE FROM THE NACC, PHILIPPINES
During the late summer months, typhoons destroyed the parsonage of the Agape Bible Christian Church located at Caloocan City. Pastor Jun Balunan and his family were forced to reside in the church building. Thanks to donations received from the One Great Hour of Sharing Fund and designated gifts to the Missionary Society, work has been completed on a new parsonage for Pastor Jun and his family. Rev. Ernanie Castillo, director of the NACC, informs us that donations also allowed for the purchase of household appliances that were needed by this family. A dedication service is being planned for the new parsonage.

The NACC supports evangelism efforts in Zambales. A bible institute in the area has 25 students. An Aeta aborigine outreach mission is gaining headway. The NACC has provided financial support that enabled local people to design and construct their own worship center. The worship center is basically made-up of indigenous materials. Aeta believers are very interested in attending a Bible School for leadership and pastoral training which is scheduled to begin in the early months of 2001.

The building of the Congregational Church of Bulawen was delayed due to extreme weather conditions, however, construction has begun and several congregation members are volunteering their services to provide the labor for this project.

Currently, the mission is seeking funds to purchase a van to provide reliable transportation to its ministries in outlying areas. Funds donated through the Missionary Society should be designated, "NACC Van."

OLADELE REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE

Rev. Solomon Oladele, director of the Christ to the Villages Mission, has notified The Missionary Society that Christian educators are needed for the Omega High School located in Shao, Nigeria. Educators are needed in the following subject areas:

· Physics
· Chemistry
· Religion (Christian)
· Mathematics
· English Language

Please contact Ruth Mahnke at the NA office if you are interested in learning more about this need.

The Nigerian government has introduced new higher minimum wages that affect private schools. This has placed a financial burden on all of the schools supported by the mission – The Alpha Nursery and Primary Schools as well as the Omega High School. Work continues on the building of the boy’s hostel and four classrooms (laboratories)

In recent months, Rev. Oladele has begun broadcasting Christian messages on Nigerian radio. Funding for this ministry is obtained through mission donations. Please remember this mission prayerfully and financially. Donations may be designated, "Christ to the Villages." Checks should be made payable to NACCC.
