WHY GO TO KC IN 2005?

page 3

Growing up on the East Coast, I had a typical parochial attitude about anything west of Pennsylvania. I’ve since spent almost half of my life in the Midwest and have countless reasons to love the heart of our country. Space (and better judgment) won’t allow for countless reasons but I’ll suggest a few.

  1. We all honor Scrooby, England, & Plimouth , Massachusetts, where it all began, however the Midwest is where WE, the NACCC, began.
  2. This is the observance of our 50th anniversary and we plan to CELEBRATE (for those of you who think it’s the 51st: think fence posts.)
  3. This meeting will HONOR our founders, share the present and LAUNCH the beginning of the next 50 years. You can be one of the folks who will say, “I was there.”
  4. Over 100 members of our Divisions, Committees, & Commissions are working many hours in planning to make this a wonderful experience.
  5. The majority of our Churches are small to mid-sized. This year’s meeting will emphasize the value and potential of these Churches.
  6. The meeting (wonderful as it is) only lasts a few days. I have asked our leadership to put particular emphasis on “take home” information. Think of a pebble tossed into a pond. Only if you come and take great information home, can you help your Church be ALL it CAN be.
  7. We will be holding up some of our own talent, Dan Showalter & Shawn Stapleton (more information later) and REALLY celebrating churches and clergy joining us.
  8. Workshops will run during less critical General (Business) Sessions. This will give you the choice of MORE workshops and LESS business.
  9. We will celebrate communion on the opening evening and share prayer, music, and worship throughout, ending with a worship service preceding the banquet, led by our graduating CFTS Fellows.

The list goes on and on, GREAT things to do in KC, WONDERFUL fellowship, EXCELLENT hotel, etc.,etc., etc. The scripture for the 2005 Meeting is Isaiah 6:8 – “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here I am, Lord, send me!”

COME and join us for these wonderful, inspiring days; and then as you return home to your Church, ANSWER God’s call and say, “Here I am, send me.”
