PASTORS! THIS IS FOR YOU!

 page 4

CCD is pleased to announce a second retreat for pastors wanting to learn more about church (and clergy!) “revitalization.” The retreat, entitled “Equipping our Pastors,” will be held February 1-3, 2005 and hosted by the Church of the Chimes in Sherman Oaks, California. The retreat will be lead by the Rev. Patti Dando Haaheim.

Patti has lead revitalization retreats at NA churches across the country. The focus of this retreat will be on the pastors – bringing resources and new ideas for pastors to meet the new and changing needs of the churches they serve.

Attention will be paid to pastors’ personal vision for ministry, and its relation to the ministry of their church. Time for devotions and discernment will be made.

Presentations will alternate with times for discussion and reflection. Meals and hospitality will be provided by the church.

The cost of the event will be $75 per person, the lion’s share of costs being underwritten by a Wish List grant to CCD. Attendees will be responsible for their own travel and housing arrangements (rooms have been reserved at several local hotels). Those flying in can make connections through the Burbank or LA airports.

Read what Rev. Patti writes: “Revitalization begins with our clergy feeling prepared and enthusiastic about the future, ready to look at the new ways that our churches are being formed and the new needs of people that our churches must address. Come to this retreat prepared to be encouraged, enriched and engaged!”

If this sounds good to you, please be in touch with us. You can call us at the office, or link to registration information and materials on the NA website. Either way – whatever it takes! – we hope to see you there!

Rev. John Carson,
Associate Executive Secretary
for Missions, Church Development, and Regional Partnerships

P.S. Tremendous thanks to those who contributed to One Great Hour of Sharing Funds directed to Florida Hurricane Victims. The generosity of churches and individuals totaled more than $10,000!

NAPFers/HOPEers: YOU ARE INVITED

Be part of a wonderful experience at the International Congregational Fellowship Youth Conference in Greece and Albania this summer, July 20-27, 2005. We will gather on the island of Corfu and enjoy Greek hospitality, do some work with the local Greek church, spend time getting to know other cultures of the world and travel to Albania to work with new churches there. Registrations are being taken now, and information, pictures and forms are available at www.intercong.org. There is no better way to make friends with other Congregational Youth around the world, and what is better than traveling and serving in a foreign country?? For any questions, contact Rev. Patti Haaheim at revpatti@yahoo.com or 952-432-4408.

There is a concurrent Adult/Family Conference being offered at the same hotel, so parents are encouraged to be part of the adventure too!!
