Florence Cong’l Church, has become a teaching parish, and will
participate in giving support to a seminary student. The formal
program (out of Andover-Newton) gives a student exposure to a
wide range of pastoral responsibilities….FCC Mansfield, hopes to
provides Thanksgiving for 130 families…FCC Hutchinson, publishes
a weekly newsletter. Mt. Hope, Livonia, is studying the book
“The Case for Faith,” as part of their adult education program.
Also, their youth group publishes a wish list, periodically, of
needed items which they hope members will supply….FCC, Akron,
has a color cover on their monthly newsletter and some color
pictures inside. They list the volunteers who are helping build
a Habitat House. Also, they have a “Committee on the Arts.”…FCC,
Pittsfield, have Rally Day at a parishioner’s home. Great idea.
This year’s hosts were Joan and Leonard Riel…Rockland Cong’l is
averaging 35 at their newly instituted contemporary worship
service. Their Monday Nights Out program includes children’s
choir, Bible study, book study, parish nurse programs, etc….FCC,
Stonington, is encouraging men and women to play basketball on
Tuesday nights. They publish a prayer-a-month in their
newsletter….Preston City is growing so rapidly that they are
going to call a part-time associate. Over 200 in the church
school program!...

NEW ADDITIONS TO FOUNDERS LIBRARY
A trilogy written by Rev. Dr. Richard Taylor (the
Annual Meeting host minister from Beneficent Church in
Providence) tracing the Congregational Christian Churches in the
country, were donated to the library by Dr. and Mrs. Tom
Richard. The titles include “The Congregational Churches of the
West,” “The Churches of Christ of the Congregational Way in New
England,” and “Southern Congregational Churches.” |
