FROM MY HEART TO YOURS….
“Can you hear me now?” is probably one of the best known
questions in the media today. As many of you know, over 60
people attended two conferences and three meetings last month
dealing with the financial stewardship of our Association.
Beginning with the Budget and Financial Services Committees,
continuing with two one-day conferences (one on the Cong’l
Foundation and one Finances), and ending with the Executive
Committee meeting, we tackled the big and small issues relating
to stewardship of our resources, what we need to do to share the
true blessings of our life together in the Association, and how
we might better appeal to our member churches.
There was a large measure of consensus, more than I have seen in
our leadership team in years. There were a number of side
conversations of how God has blessed us in the past, but might
be speaking to us to “move out” from our past with a clear and
bold message of Christian fellowship.
One of the participants jokingly said to me, “Perhaps God is the
one saying “Can you hear me now?” It was a good point. One of
the common threads in all of last month’s “meetings” was a
concern that we hear our member congregations, as well as a
growing number of congregations outside the NACCC who are
looking at our Association with interest. One of the clear
messages from our congregations is “WE have an entire generation
of worshippers who do not know our history, our passion for
freedom IN CHRIST, and our commitment to be both responsible to
and in fellowship with each other.” The other message is, “be in
partnership with us in timely, effective, directed ways.”
We have heard you. In the weeks and months ahead you will hear
more about what came out of these intense conversations. We have
heard you and we promise to respond.
