News for the Pews
from the NACCC Church Services Commission
Issue I, 2005

Are you prepared for a health emergency at your church? A few items to keep in mind: Display emergency numbers prominently, including the address and phone number of the building; ask the diaconate to attend CPR classes and church school teachers to attend Red Cross First Aid classes. Contact Church Services at the NA office for more ideas.

Tsunami Relief Update

Thank you to all churches and individuals who have so generously donated to One Great Hour of Sharing-Tsunami Relief. To date, over $95,000 has been received, from over 30 churches and many individuals. Go to www.naccc.org for continuing updates from Rev. Kenaz Solomon, and the Travancore Church Council, who are distributing funds. Also, look for the March-April issue of News and Needs of the Missionary Society.

Book Discussion Groups

A few titles our churches are reading: Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini; The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd; Speaking of Sin, by Barbara Brown Taylor; and Mountains Beyond Mountains, by Tracy Kidder.

A New Recommended Mission in Ghana

The Missionary Society has added God Gives Interdenominational Ministry, in Ghana, to its list of Recommended Missions. Recommended Missions receive dollar-for-dollar giving through individual and church donations, but do not receive Missionary Society undesignated support. The Ministry trains leaders and seeks to complete a church building, expand ministry to women and children, and offer additional outreach services.

Help the NA Office Help You! Email us at: naccc@naccc.org with your suggestions.

The NA office receives many checks from churches each week. Because of this, please note in the memo section the fund to which the check is to be credited. We want your gift to support the cause your church is interested in.

We maintain a church information database, which includes minister’s name, moderator’s name, email contact, etc. These details help us to send pertinent information to the appropriate person. Please send any changes to naccc@naccc.org.

In the last few years, we have sent packets of information to each church, in late winter and early fall. Included have been materials such as pamphlets from Church Mutual; Congregational Investment Trust; national and international Missionary needs; and notices of conferences, such as the Youth Leaders Retreat. Is this information helpful to you? Please let us know!
