| There is only one event this
summer that will offer Congregational worship, captivating Bible lectures,
German entertainment and fellowship beneath crystal chandeliers and
elegantly decorated, vaulted ceilings.
The 49th Annual
NACCC Meeting hosted by the Wisconsin Congregational
Association will be held on June 28 _ July 1, 2003, at the
Hilton Milwaukee City Center.
The focus of the meeting will be "looking forward to
the future, based on historical past," said Rev. Steven
H. Ware Bailey, NA Moderator.
This year's speakers are
engaging, nationally known and much in demand. They will be explicating
the theme of the meeting: "For Years to Come." The theme originates
from an interpretation of Psalm 20 in the hymn, "Our God, Our Help in
Ages Past" by Congregationalist Isaac Watts.
Bible lecturer Peter Gomes,
Plummer Professor of Christian Morals and Pusey Minister in The
Memorial Church at Harvard University, is one of the most acclaimed preachers
in America. He brings knowledge of English and American Puritanism.
Congregational lecturer David Maitland, Chaplain and
Professor of Religion Emeritus at Carleton College, has
appreciation for issues relating to the history of Puritanism and
education in America.
Banquet lecturer Martin Marty, Fairfax M. Cone
Distinguished Professor Emeritus at
the University of Chicago, is one of the most sought-after religious
commentators. He won the National Medal of Humanities and National
Book Award.
An important item of business to be discussed is the proposal
to create a Congregational Foundation, a fundraising organization to support programming for the National Association. It was introduced last year
and will be reintroduced and voted on at this year's meeting.
And don't forget the German
band, Dorf Kapelle; a German dinner; Gilles Custard social; Children's
Christian Theater Performance; reception for Phil Jackson and special
communion service.
Put the 2003 Annual Meeting on
your calendar to experience Milwaukee, stay in the Hilton and see your
Church family from around the nation.
