NEWS FOR THE PEWS

From the NACCC Church Services Commission
Issue V, 2004

SHARE THANKSGIVING RECIPES
Plimoth Plantation wants your favorite family Thanksgiving recipe for a cookbook/history of the holiday to be published by Random House in the fall of 2005. The cookbook will focus on the history of the thanksgiving meal from 1621 to today. The last chapter will feature the ways individual families celebrate the holiday. Plimoth Plantation would love to hear from you if you have an ethnic or regional recipe addition that your family makes to the "traditional Thanksgiving menu".

You can contact the museum's food historian (and book author) Kathleen Curtin at (508)746-1622 extension 8281 or at kcurtin@plimoth.org if you have recipe that would fit the bill. If your recipe is used by the museum in the book you will receive a free hardcover copy!

WANTED - CONGREGATIONAL AUTHORS
This year at the NACCC Annual Meeting in Providence, the Church Services Commission will again dedicate a portion of the Resource Room for a bookstore. Some of the books that will be highlighted will include those authored by the featured speakers during the meeting and books associated with religious or NACCC related topics authored by members of the NACCC. If you have a book that you like us to have available, please contact Diane Williams at: dianefae@msn.com or (608)) 274-5597. We will need your name, title of the book, publisher, and information about how to obtain copies.

NAPF/HOPE YOUTH CONFERENCES
Don't let your youth miss out on the wonderful opportunity to share their faith and fellowship with other NAPF'ers and HOPE'rs from member churches across our nation. Both Youth Conferences have one thing in common - a place, time and friends, with which to share their faith. Friendships forged during the conferences last a lifetime.

This year the NAPF and HOPE Conferences will be in Kingston, Rhode Island, at the University of Rhode Island. NAPF/HOPE are close to the Adult Meeting and there will be an intergenerational event with the adult meeting. The dates, again, are June 26-30, 2004. If you need further information, please contact: Karen Frazzell, Director of Youth Ministries - 1-800-262-1620, Ext. 16 or e-mail: kfrazzell@naccc.org.
