Something New
It's expensive to fly from Anchorage to ... anywhere for the
NACCC Annual Meeting! And it's not exactly cheap for anyone in the "lower
48" either. So when we spend the money our churches have raised to help
us get there, we need to get the most bang for the buck, so to speak.
To help accomplish this, the planning committee for the 2001
Annual Meeting to be held in Lansing, MI decided to try something new in
the hopes of offering more in the way of useful information for our
delegates and churches. With that in mind, the Church Services Commission
has enthusiastically taken on the task of putting together a
Resource Room for the conference.
Delegates will be able to wander into the
Resource Room at any time during the day to get information on such things as Sunday school
curriculum, different types of Bibles, ideas for youth and adult groups,
materials that support the seminar topics, etc. There will be folks there to talk
with about what works for them and what doesn't, and you will walk
away with information to add to your notebook to help you share what
you've learned with the rest of your church. Through this we hope there will
be an exchange of ideas.
In addition there will be scheduled "events." Want to talk with a
representative of a particular Sunday school curriculum? That person will
be available in the Resource Room from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday
(for example.) Want to speak with one of the seminar speakers? Each will
be available to answer questions after their session.
What happens after the conference? We're hoping to have most of
the information posted on the web site and available by calling the NA office.
And we hope this will be an ongoing, evolving database so you can
check every now and then for new ideas.
This is something new. For some it will be a bit uncomfortable, and
we are fairly sure we will experience a few glitches, but we have a
sincere desire to offer something that will be of practical use to the
member churches of the NA. You can help by letting the Church Services
Commission know before the meeting what you'd like to see covered in
the Resource Room, and afterwards by giving us ideas on how we
can improve for the next year.
All of those involved in the Resource
Room are excited and look forward to seeing you in Lansing, MI in June!
