| GREAT IDEAS

The Souhegan Church, NH, holds an annual elders planning session
in which Church goals for leadership are set for the entire year.
The Greater Lansing Guild of Organists
in conjunction with Plymouth Church is
holding a "Hoot n' Howl" light-hearted,
light-classical concert to benefit the Greater Lansing Food Bank. As far as we can tell, the newsletter of Allegan
FCC contains a mission news article every month. FCC Mansfield, OH,
recently had two adult forums on adaptation, rehabilitation, and
adjustment to disabilities. Glenolden, PA, Church lists a domestic abuse
shopping list for each month items are brought to the Church and then
safe house and used by the women and children there. |

WE HEARD YOU!
The Annual Meeting evaluations have been collated. The results
were an A+ for the meeting as a whole, (Bible lectures, keynote and
Congregational lecture got very high marks) but comments about several
other items in the evaluation are worth mentioning:
Small groups were not
as successful (we'll look at a new approach and use
of them)
Dawn devotions
(although not as well-attended as we might have wanted,
they were seen as an important way to start the day)
Meals (high marks on smaller meals)
Some additional comments: more singing, great use of large
screen, keep intergenerational experiences between adult and youth
assemblies, hymns on overhead need to be in bigger print, three CFTS grads
did a great job in worship, on the schedules print the names of the
speakers, several remarked "great experience." We know of three
factors which influenced the lower than normal attendance: distance, cost
of mtg., and cost of transportation. We heard you, though, and are
committed to tackling all of those factors on a regular basis.
(For a complete review of the evaluations, please contact the NA office).

DID YOUR CHURCH HOUSE AFRICAN AMERICANS
ESCAPING TO FREEDOM?
If you did, get in touch with the
First Congregational Church of Detroit, which has assembled an
interactive tour of their part in "the
underground railroad." Their commitment to
sharing the Congregational Christian's role in the cause should be
duplicated in every Church which took part.

THE BENTLEY
You will hear more about this in
June at the Annual Meeting, but Dr. Donald Bentley,
Moderator-elect, has issued a challenge. He
intends on giving the NA $500 toward a scholarship to small Churches in
the NA who cannot afford to attend the annual meeting in Providence
in 2004 and hopes that five others will answer that challenge. That adds
up to $2500! Can you imagine how many small Churches we could
help attend the Providence Meeting? Stay tuned for more details. Thank
you, Dr. Bentley! |
