CFTS was pleased to admit three new students during the June meeting in Milwaukee.
The mix of new students reflects the diversity of our churches and the changing profile of
seminary entrants.
Julie Salata is a member of Gurnee Community Church, Gurnee IL. A 1982 graduate
of DePaul University, with a BA in Accounting, Julie is enrolled at Garrett Evangelical
Seminary, Evanston, IL. She is currently working for MPC Products in Skokie, IL as a
Cost Analyst. Julie has a son, Paul, who is 13 years old.
Mike Fales is a member of Olivet Congregational Church, Olivet, MI and is working at Olivet College
as Director of Church Relations and Campus Ministries; Co-Advisor for International Students. Mike is a
1975 graduate of Olivet College with a BA in Political Science. He is attending Earlham School of
Religion, Richmond, IN. Mike and his wife, Judy, have three sons, Doug, age 12 and twins, Tom and Chuck, age 8.
Hillary Viets is a member of North Shore Congregational Church, Fox Point, WI. She is a 2002 graduate
of Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA, where she earned a BS in International Business. Hillary is
attending Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA.
We welcome these capable students into CFTS and look forward to walking with them
during their seminary years and entry into ordained ministry.
DFM has posted three new documents on the NACCC website which may be helpful
to member churches. The first is a template for a clergy/church covenant or contract
which includes the most common and important elements of a church employment agreement.
The second document is a template for a ministerial code of conduct. The third
document is the Child Protection Policy developed and used by Gurnee Community
Church, Gurnee, IL. We are thankful to the church for letting us post this important document.
All three pieces may be found on line at
www.naccc.org/Member_Church_Forms.htm in Word and PDF formats.
Finally, during the October meeting of the Executive Committee, action was taken to enable further development
of our electronic communications capabilities. In the coming months I will be writing more about the many
benefits the Executive Committee's action will bring to our churches and their individuals members.
