| current? All these (and
more) will make your Church a more hospitable place, and the first
impression will be "What a friendly Church!"…
Heritage (Spokane, WA) started a Wed. night dinner to
attract people, who leave the dinner to go to choir, youth group or
bible study. That's not all _ they charge $2 a person. Or $5 a family (no
matter how large the family). They had 64 the first week and 75 the
second. And, a new couple in the Church took charge of preparing the dinners!
FCC (Millinocket, ME)
provided space for displaced workers in the area to come and be re-tooled.
The Comm. College, Technical School and Univ. of ME provided the
workshops.
The FCC's (Lynn, MA) youth
group is walking for five miles to raise money for the North Shore
Hospice movement.
NCC (Farmington Hills,
MI) Had a mom-to-mom sale _ selling outgrown children's
clothes, games and furniture. Great recycling and
fund-raising idea!
Several of our Churches publish
ways in which the laity exhibit their ministry in their newsletters by
listing the greeters of the month, readers, visits made by Diaconate,
on-call deacons(esses) etc. We commend this practice to you.
An adaptation of a regular
window announcement recently seen on the monthly newsletter cover of a
Church affiliated with a denomination:
We are members of the Maine Council of Congregational
Christian Churches and the
National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.
Through these
associations our Church participates in ministries,
missions, and fellowship which touches the
lives of people
nearby as well as around the world
in ways we could never do alone.
