FINANCIAL SERVICES
by Hal Frentz
A Financial Advisor Can Help You
FINANCIAL SERVICE ADVISORS are another valuable service
of our National Association available to each church. These Advisors
are each well experienced in financial matters from budgets to
building programs, from stewardship to planned giving. In addition, they
have accumulated a wealth of ideas, methods and programs, which have been
very successful for many churches. Our churches, and outside organizations,
have shared their successful ideas with us in hopes they might be helpful to
other churches (your church for example). This is real Congregational "fellowship."
Our Advisors are volunteering their time and effort in this spirit of fellowship.
A psychologist once said, "What are the eight hardest words in the English language for a person to say?"
The answer was, "I have a problem. I need your help." All of us feel
this way at one time or another _ but each of us would like to have
the opportunity to be the problem solver! Our Advisors are hoping to
be "problem solvers" and they would keep any call they receive
confidential.
The most often received calls by our Advisors this past year have
been for help in church stewardship programs, building endowment funds
and how to develop local church planned giving programs to add to
a church's income. Sometimes just talking to someone else about
a problem helps us see the solution and answer.
Our Financial Service Advisors are as close as your telephone and
will come work with you. Look up the one closest to your church and
give him a call! Our new 2001 Yearbook will contain all the names
and phone numbers and we have added two new Advisors to the list. |
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2001
As we gather in Lansing for our Annual Meeting,
look forward to hearing Donald Juel, our Bible Lecturer.
Currently on the faculty of Princeton Theological Seminary as a New
Testament scholar, Dr. Juel shares his thoughtful insights in ways
that engage his audience in both mind and spirit. He is a recipient
of many grants, awards and honors, has numerous articles to his
credit as well as authorship of more than 17 books, including The
Gospel of Mark: Interpreting Biblical Texts (Abingdon,
1999) and A Master of Surprise: Mark Interpreted
(Fortress Press, 1994). Come to Lansing and engage Don Juel's wit
and wisdom, as we celebrate transforming in Christ and uniting in
faith. See you there!
