150 years ago, Plymouth Church, led by Henry Ward Beecher,
published The Plymouth Collection, a visionary, innovative and
ecumenical hymnal. During this 150th anniversary year, Plymouth
Church is recognizing the contributions of the past while
celebrating the present and future of congregational singing.
The members of Plymouth Church invite churches around the world
to sing with them on Sunday, October 16, 2005, to thank God for
the gift of congregational song, and to recognize the importance
of congregational singing in the worship and life of every
church. Please join other churches worldwide by designating one
hymn during the worship service to celebrate the gift of song.
Music and scripture resources are available upon request at
hymnal150@plymouthchurch.org.
Plymouth Church will locate participating churches on a world
map. If you know that your church will be singing with Plymouth
that day, please let us know.
