CALIFORNIA, HERE WE COME!

 page 6

It seems like only yesterday we were in Kansas City. Here it is August and our busy season is just around the corner. Most of you have not thought about next year’s Annual Meeting in Costa Mesa, California. Well, I have and so have the Host and the Program Committees. We started planning over a year ago, right after the 2004 meeting. Speakers have been contacted, and plans made that will effect the outcome of our meeting. Our headquarters will be the Hilton Costa Mesa; for more on our location check out www.costamesa.hilton.com. We’ll have celebrations to open and close our meeting. We will give a flavor of Hollywood and the Southwest to our meeting with entertainment and events reflecting the area we are visiting.

The location is great, the weather will be great, and the people will be super. For inspiration we have Dr. William E. Pannell, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Professor of Preaching at Fuller School of Theology. We also have Dr. Steven Peay as our Congregational Lecturer. Add interesting and informative workshops and seminars and you have the formula for excitement. We’ve planned entertainment to make you laugh or sing. Our worship will be supported by a united choir from all over the country (more on that later).

For your family vacation needs, our Host Committee is putting together extended stay events before or after the meeting. There will be ample opportunity for you to sign up for a group trip to one of the bay towns or special events. You will be in the center of the entertainment industry. Disneyland, Sea World, Knox Berry Farm, the Queen Mary and San Diego Zoo are all within ear shot of our meeting. As long as you are making the trip, make it a vacation as well.

We have a wonderful Host Committee working very hard to make this visit enjoyable and wonderful. We even have folks volunteering to house some of our visitors if the cost is prohibitive.

This is the year that you will not want to miss. Our approach as a Program and Host Committee is to provide a faith filled event with opportunity for fellowship and fun. I would personally like everyone to leave our 52nd Annual Meeting excited about what they learned, saw and experienced. We will make every effort to make that happen for you!

Your Moderator,
Rev. Richard Adair
