RETURNING TO OUR ROOTS

 page 7

The Fellowship of Connecticut Congregational Christian Churches (FCCC) had a unique opportunity this year. For many years FCCC, an association of about 40 churches from 5 states, has had a paid Executive Secretary, either full time or part time. The term of office of the Executive Secretary was expiring and membership and financial contributions were declining which combined to provide an opportunity to look at the design of the Fellowship

An ad hoc committee designed a new structure for FCCC that is focused on assistance to the local church, increased fellowship and support between churches, ties with the NA and access to services at minimal cost.

FCCC is divided into six geographically based zones and each zone has a messenger. The messengers are coordinated by an Executive Secretary and all are unpaid volunteers. Messengers have monthly contact with zone churches, visit quarterly, arrange semi-annual gatherings, strengthen ties with the NA, and provide referrals for assistance. The Executive Secretary spends time in the Fellowship office and supervises the paid, part time Administrative Assistant. The messengers and Executive Secretary are reimbursed for designated expenses.

Messengers and the Executive Secretary, lay or clergy FCCC church members, are elected for three-year terms. The FCCC has an Executive Committee of one delegate per church that oversees the FCCC between meetings. The FCCC is blessed with an endowment that is used for low cost loans, mortgages, and grants and expenses of the FCCC, not covered by donations from member churches.
