Dr. Richard is a graduate of Piedmont College, Bangor Theological Seminary, and the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies.  He received his Doctorate of Ministry from University of Dubuque Theological Schools.  His dissertation/project was entitled: “Developing Lay Ministry at First Congregational Church.”

He has served four Congregational Churches in Connecticut, Maine, Iowa, and Massachusetts.  He was deeply involved in elderly housing, the Hospice movement, ecumenical and interfaith programs, and fund-raising. He has offered numerous workshops in local Churches on leadership development, grief and loss, adult education and creative fund-raising for ministries.

His wife, LeeAnne, is an administrative assistant at the Milwaukee Foundation. Tom enjoys reading, basketball, and wood working.  They have six children, ranging in ages 17-26.

Dr. Richard joined the National Association staff in 2001 and is assisted by Carrie Dahm.  His overall responsibilities include promoting the Congregational Way of life, providing vision for the work and services of the NACCC, acting as head of staff, and engendering trust and understanding within our diverse association of Churches.
