Belden C. Lane 

Professor Belden C. Lane is Hotfelder Distinguished Professor in the Humanities Department of Theological Studies, St. Louis University.  Dr. Lane received his Ph. D. with honors, in 1976 from Princeton Theological Seminary; he received his B.D. (M. Div.) in 1969 from Fuller Theological Seminary, and his B.A., cum laude in 1966 from Florida State University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.  He was ordained at the Presbyterian Church in Ellicottville, New York, in 1972 and also served as a Presbyterian Minister at Churches in Bordentown, New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is the author of many scholarly books and articles including The Solace of Fierce Landscapes: Exploring Desert and Mountain Spirituality (1998), Landscapes of the Sacred: Geography and Narrative in American Spirituality (2001), Storytelling: the Enchantment of Theology (1981) and many others.  He is Editor-at-Large of The Christian Century and a member of the editorial board Spiritus: A Journal of Christian Spirituality.
