Reverend Lobb was born in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada, raised in Rosedale B.C.,
and graduated from Chilliwack High School. He attended and graduated from
Aurora University, Aurora, Illinois, with degrees in English Literature,
History and Theology. Additional graduate work was done at California State
University at Los Angeles; The School of Theology in Claremont, California;
Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem, Israel; and McCormick Theological
Seminary in Chicago, where Rev. Lobb received his Doctor of Ministry degree.
In May 2000, he was awarded the honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from
Piedmont College, Demorest, Georgia.
Dr. Lobb taught high school in California and coached basketball and track.
For two years he was Assistant General Manager of the Pomona, California,
Chamber of Commerce. He has been Pastor of the Bonita Avenue Church in La
Verne, California; Assistant and Senior Minister at Pilgrim Congregational
Church in Pomona, California; Senior Minister at First Congregational
Church, Salt Lake City, Utah; Co-minister of North Shore Congregational
Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Senior Minister of Timothy Eaton
Memorial Church in Toronto, Ontario Canada from 1987 to 1997.
Dr. Lobb has served on many community and denominational boards, including
the Youth Commission, the Executive Committee, and the World Christian
Relations Commission of the National Association of Congregational Christian
Churches. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Good Samaritan
Medical Center, Milwaukee, former Dean of the National Associations,
Ministers’ Convocation and former Moderator of the Wisconsin Congregational
Association. In 1979, he was the recipient of the National Association of
Congregational Christian Churches Outstanding Sermon Award.
In Pomona, Dr. Lobb was a member and past President of the Ministerial
Association, Secretary to the Board of LeRoy Boys Home, on the Board of the
Y.M.C.A., a member of the Pomona Economic Development Corporation Board and
Executive Committee, a member of the Pomona Rotary Club and a board member
of the Institute of Religion and Wholeness at the School of Theology in
Claremont.
At Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Dr. Lobb coordinated the work of a large
staff in a metropolitan area church. For ten months of the year, he was the
primary preacher at the weekly services. Each Sunday the 11:00 a.m. service
was broadcast live over the radio.
In Toronto, Dr. Lobb served on a host of church and community groups. He is
active in ecumenical activities, Jewish-Christian ventures and the Toronto
East Rotary Club who honored him by presenting him with the Paul Harris
award in 1997.
In 1997, Dr. Lobb was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the National
Association of Congregational Christian Churches whose national office is in
Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Besides coordinating the work of the national staff,
Dr. Lobb travels extensively visiting churches and associations and
participating in ecumenical activities.
Dr. and Mrs. Lobb (Christine) live in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, have three
daughters and four grandchildren all of whom live in California and
Washington.
