Rev. Dr. Thomas M. Richard

Dr. Richard received his BA degree from Piedmont College, his Master of Divinity degree from Bangor Theological Seminary, and his Doctorate of Ministry degree from the University of Dubuque Theological Schools.

During his twenty-eight years of ministry, he has served four National Association Churches – in CT., ME., IA., and most recently he was the
Senior Minister of the First Congregational Church on Nantucket Island, MA. for fifteen years. During a year’s sabbatical he taught psychology, ethics, and sociology at two business colleges in Portland, ME.

A son of an NACCC minister, Dr. Richard has been involved in numerous leadership positions on State and National Association boards, among them the Executive Committee of the NACCC. In addition to frequent guest preaching, he has conducted workshops on membership development, endowments, lay ministry development, grief and loss, health and faith, and creating liturgy in the free Church.

He is married to the former LeeAnne Cartwright. They have a blended family of six children.

Dr. Richard’s responsibilities as our chief executive include promoting the Congregational Way of life, providing vision for the work and services of the NACCC, acting as head of staff, and engendering trust and understanding within our diverse association of Churches.
