Mission School of Hope’s annual Arts and Crafts Day was once again a very wonderful day, bringing joy and creativity to the children and their community. This year’s theme, “Designing Houses,” allowed children to express their imagination and skills by producing impressive designs.
They, however, noticed that no child designed the traditional Baka hut, which they had hoped they would design. When they asked why, the children said that anyone could build the Baka hut, so there was no need to design it.
Arts and Crafts Day at Mission School of Hope is more than just a fun event – it’s an investment in the creative, emotional, and cognitive development of the children. By embracing arts and culture, they empower the Baka community’s future generations to build a brighter, more innovative tomorrow. They also want to make sure the children preserve their cultural heritage. That’s why, for the end-of-year activities, children have been asked to design the Baka huts. Their culture is their identity.
